Silage film and the importance of an intact bale wrap

Silage film forms part of a bale preservation system. The film, bale preparation, wrapper settings and storage handling must work together. Check the supplied grade for the intended conditions rather than assuming that every stretch film suits agricultural storage. The catalogue does not provide a universal outdoor life, layer count or wrapping setting; confirm these for the actual product and equipment.

The finished bale wrap needs to remain continuous through wrapping, movement and storage. Review these stages as one process. A roll that runs well on the wrapper can still be damaged later by a protrusion or unsuitable handling contact.

Check that the roll format suits the wrapper and that the film is stored and handled as directed by the supplier. Keep outer roll damage and contamination from entering the process. Record batch details for the bales wrapped during each run.

Assess the wrap after moving the bale, when newly exposed damage may be visible. Agree with the responsible agricultural team how inspections, repairs and storage checks will be managed. Film selection is one part of that wider operating plan.

Confirm your specification

Specify width, thickness, roll length or net material weight, core size, colour, packing, quantity and destination. Final dimensions and performance are confirmed by the sample and order.

Product details are based on the GUDE catalogue and supplied photographs; operating guidance is general and must be verified on your equipment.
