POF shrink film and PE stretch film serve different jobs
POF shrink film tightens around a product when processed through appropriate sealing and heat shrinking equipment. PE stretch film is tensioned mechanically around a load. These are different processes, so do not substitute one solely because both films are transparent. POF is useful for presentation and grouping; confirm suitability for the product, equipment and any intended food-contact use.
In a shrink process, the pack passes through preparation, sealing and controlled heating. Product shape, film format and equipment must work together. In a stretch process, restraint comes from the applied wrap and does not depend on a shrinking tunnel.
For retail presentation, examine how the finished film sits around corners, how the seal looks and whether labels remain visible. For grouped products, also check whether the pack can be handled without the contents shifting or separating.
Choose the process according to the goods and the purpose of the pack. Heat-sensitive items need a validated handling method, while pallet loads need appropriate restraint. Share those requirements before selecting a film solely on its clear appearance.
Confirm your specification
Specify width, thickness, roll length or net material weight, core size, colour, packing, quantity and destination. Final dimensions and performance are confirmed by the sample and order.
Product details are based on the GUDE catalogue and supplied photographs; operating guidance is general and must be verified on your equipment.
